GRAMMY Award winning multi-instrumentalist Tim O’Brien is heading to Scotland in May 2017 for not one, but two Fallen Angels Club shows.
Nashville-based Tim, who won the Grammy in 2005 for his album “Fiddler’s Green” in the Best Traditional Folk Album category, will appear at Glasgow’s St Andrews in the Square on May 17 – and the Teviot Debating Hall the following evening (May 18).
The roots maestro’s latest solo album, Pompadour follows years of collaborations with Darrell Scott, a Grammy-winning recording with Jerry Douglas’ Earls of Leicester, and the rebooting of Hot Rize.
The upshot is an acclaimed eleven-track record that is exquisitely varied, highlighting his remarkable musicianship throughout.
O’Brien himself describes it as a “break-up record” which combines elements of bluegrass, deep-roots Appalachian music, field hollers, old-school rock 'n' roll, traditional jazz and even James Brown-style funk.
You just can’t get enough of Tim O’Brien’s music so two gigs in one visit is a real treat for everyone.
Young African-Canadian roots phenomena Kaia Kater will open up the shows for Tim.
