For her performance as part of Serious Space Maarja will be working with electronic musician Hendrik Kaljujärv, an exclusive to her London date.

Hailing from Northern Estonia, fiddler/singer Maarja Nuut combines traditional dance tunes, songs, and stories with live electronics to create an intricate layered soundscape in a space where minimalism and experimental music meet the village musical traditions of pre-war Europe. In her performance, Maarja searches for a lively and relaxed state like a cat poised to leap

Released in Spring 2016, her second album Une Meeles explores the boundary between reality and dreams and was named one of the top 10 albums of 2016 by fRoots. The album was also picked by Songlines for their Top of the World accolade

Support comes from Archivist. Following on from the critically acclaimed self-titled debut EP, which saw support from Noisey, Dummy, The 405, Q Magazine, Radio 1, Radio 6 and more; the release of 2017’s Memo Ep marks a strong return for songwriter Ed Begley aka Archivist, who is now surrounded by a wealth of heavyweight talent when performing live.

The union of these like-minded musicians yields a sound with huge pop sensibilities and a definitively British experimental sound that has ethereal, independent flare - with powerful glistening synths, intricate drums, evocative falsetto vocals and heavy grooves.
For this particular show at Rich Mix - Ed has formed a trio and will be joined by longtime drummer Pete Ibbetson (Rosie Lowe/Valerie June) and special guest Tom Herbert (The Invisible) on bass.
