Day One: The Lambrettas + The Chords UK + Special Guests
The Lambrettascame to prominence in the late 1970's Mod Revival scene in the UK. Their first single "Poison Ivy" captured the zeitgeist of the time and went straight into the Top 10 of the UK charts and earned the band a slot on BBC1's "Top of the Pops". Further singles "D-a-a-ance", "Another day, another girl", & "Good times" brought the band a huge audience.
The Chordswere championed byPaul WellerandSham 69's Jimmy Purseybefore signing to Polydor Records and scoring chart hits with "Maybe Tomorrow", "Something's Missing", "The British Way of Life" and more. Their debut album "So Far Away" reached number 30 in the naitonal charts. Now fronted by original memberChris Pope, The Chords UKwill be playing the hits and selections from their recent album "Take on Life" tonight.
Day Two: The Truth + Fay Hallam + DJ Dave Edwards
The Truthwere formed in 1982 by the band leader ofNine Below ZeroDennis GreavesandMick Lister.Their debut single "Confusion ( Hits Us Every Time )"went to No. 22 in the UK charts and was followed swiftly by "A Step in the Right Direction" which reached No. 32. Their debut album "Playground" came out in 1985 and was followed by "Weapons of Love" (1987) and "Jump" (1989) along with some fantastic singles before the band split. After reforming in 2012 for a one off sold out London concert,The Truthare back to play at 2017's Mods Mayday Weekend.
Fay Hallam, originally from Wolverhampton, a long time exponent of 60's style beat and pop, has performed over the years in acts such asMakin' Time(which also included a pre-The Charlatans Martin Blunt) toThe Prime MoversandPhaze. Over the years she has worked withBilly Childish, Graham Day, Allan Crockfordand other luminaries of the Medway scene where she lived for 17 years. A prolific songwriter, she has made over 9 albums. In 2012 she released an album on Blow Up Records in collaboration withThe Bongolian.
Day Three: Secret Affair + The Scene + Deep Six + DJ Paul 'Smiler' Anderson
Secret Affair(Ian Page, Dave Cairns, Dennis Smith & Seb Shelton) formed in 1978 from their previous incarnation as the “power pop” band New Hearts. In a period of a little over two years, they posted five releases in the UK Singles Chart, and released three albums. The debut single "Time For Action" reached number 13 in the UK chart, putting them at the forefront of the mod revival movement. More chart success followed with "Let Your Heart Dance", "My World" and "Sound Of Confusion". They also drew up plans for a smart-dressing youth movement - "The Glory Boys" – based around the idea of 1960s gangster chic, influenced by the movie, "Performance."
The Scenewere a London based Mod Band who released three singles in the Mid-1980's onDiamond Records - "Something That You Said", "Looking for Love"and"Good Lovin'"
