Additional Information

Darren Gough

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s Yorkshire legend Darren Gough was more often than not the spearhead of England's bowling attack, his whole-hearted displays attracting plaudits from colleagues across the sport. Prolific in all forms of the game, 'Goughie' took over 200 wickets in both Test and One Day formats, and often chipped in with the bat scoring useful runs from the lower order. Rarely without an opinion on sporting matters, Goughie is a regular presenter on Talksport, and has also demonstrated his dancing skills to great effect, winning the 2005 series of Strictly Come Dancing with partner Lilia Kopylova.

Mahela Jayawardene

Sri Lankan superstar Mahela Jayawardene is one of the all-time greats: the first Sri Lankan to score 10000 Test runs, he has repeated this feat in the One Day format, whilst also holding the record Test high score for his country with 374 against South Africa in 2006. During the same match, he and Kumar Sangakkara set an astonishing world record partnership of 624, which many say will never be bettered. Remarkably, statistics also reveal thatc Jayawardene b Muralitharanis the most common bowler-fielder combination in the history of Test cricket. A hugely accomplished speaker, Mahela is a fascinating character and modern cricketing great.

Jonathan Agnew

Following in the footsteps of broadcasting greats such as Brian Johnston and Christopher Martin-Jenkins, our host Jonathan Agnew is already regarded as the finest BBC commentator of his generation. Aggers enjoyed a fine county cricket career with Leicestershire as a fast bowler, and even won international recognition, with 3 caps in both the Test and One Day formats. A consummate professional, his voice is instantly recognisable on BBC Radio's Test Match Special, where he brings the game to life for listeners of all ages with style and panache.

The Long Room at The Oval

The stunning Long Room at the Oval is situated in the historic Pavilion, which was built in 1895. Featuring wood panelling and high ceilings, the room overlooks the famous Oval wicket and has hosted the world’s great cricketers from Sir Donald Bradman to Andrew Flintoff. Guests are sure to be impressed by the level of service and sophistication that this great venue provides.
