Lisbee Stainton is a 28 year-old singer-songwriter who has been writing music since she was 8 years old. She graduated in 2009 from Goldsmiths College, University of London, with a degree in Popular Music and her first album release already under her belt, Firefly, as well as having been the first unsigned singer-songwriter to play London's O2 Arena in 2007, performing two shows to 30,000 people.
Since graduating, she has recorded a further 3 critically acclaimed albums. Girl on an Unmade Bed (2010) was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and produced by Rupert Christie (Lou Reed, Fisherman's Friends). The album earned Lisbee three play listed singles on BBC Radio 2, a 'Record of The Week' on BBC 6Music's Radcliffe & Maconie Show and gained the attention of Joan Armatrading, who personally chose Lisbee to be the main support act for her extensive 74-date tour of the UK and mainland Europe, including a sold-out concert at The Royal Albert Hall. Shortly afterwards, Lisbee was a featured artist on BBC Radio 2's prestigious 'In Concert' series.
Lisbee’s third album Go (2012) received more airplay from Radio 2 as Lisbee completed twenty-three intimate 'Living Room' concerts (including a performance aboard the nuclear submarine HMS Vigilant), a European tour with Paul Carrack, a UK tour with Gretchen Peters, a live session and interview for Radio 2's The Bob Harris Show, a UK tour supporting Ben Montague and a series of her own headline dates. During a tour of Germany, Folk star Seth Lakeman was so impressed with what he heard from Lisbee as the support act that he invited her to join his band to sing backing vocals and play banjo, harmonium, guitar and harmonica; a role that won her a whole new audience.
Word Games (2013) was recorded at Monnow Valley Studio in Monmouth, Wales, and produced by Mikko Gordon (Thom Yorke) and Rupert Christie. Seth Lakeman’s and Lisbee’s fruitful onstage partnership led to the pair co-writing two songs on the album, with Lakeman also contributing vocals, viola and bouzouki throughout the album’s recording. Lisbee co-write another track with Irish star Eleanor McEvoy (‘Only A Woman’s Heart’). 2014 subsequently saw Lisbee complete not only another headline tour of the UK, but also a UK tour with Paul Brady, a duo tour of Germany with Seth Lakeman and a live session for Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2.
Lisbee’s fifth album, Then Up, is the first to be entirely self-produced and is due for release in March 2017. Then Up is a triumphant, exultant journey through story-telling and self-discovery. It was recorded at Monnow Valley Studios and Real World studios and includes co-writes with Eleanor McEvoy, Ivor Novello nominee Charlie Dore (George Harrison, Tina Turner) and Tom Robinson. Between the time she spent writing and recording the album, Lisbee continued to tour in Seth Lakeman’s band, played UK dates supporting Fisherman’s Friends and performed at festivals such as Glastonbury, main stage slots at Wickham Festival and Towersey Festival, and Blacksheep Festival in Germany.
Additionally, whilst continuing to be a prolific songwriter in her own right, Lisbee regularly co-writes with other songwriters and in addition to the writers already mentioned, has co-written with Ian Brown (Mighty Village Records), Henry Priestman and Don Mescall. In Sept 2016, Lisbee was selcted to travel to Nashville in a select group of 15 UK songwriters as a part of the UKTI Songwriting and Publishing camp. During which, Lisbee co-wrote songs with US songwriters Blue Miller (India Arie), Lamont 'Logic' Coleman (Wyclef Jean, Justin Bieber) and Tabitha Fair (Carole King).
Lisbee’s fans are renowned for their devotion to both her music and to her personally, often going above and beyond to experience her work. During her infamous Living Room tour of 2012, one of Lisbee’s fans was so enthusiastic to see her perform that he knocked down a wall in his house in order to make space for both an audience and the stage. Lisbee’s growing fan base continues to eagerly follow her performances wherever she plays.
