Additional Information

The New Jersey-born singer/songwriter combines sunny indie pop with darker lyrical themes that reflect his personal struggles; he makes his highly anticipated return and will be playing an intimate solo show.

Lost treasure needn’t be found in the distant past; the 21st century hides many artists who disappeared into the great wide yonder. BC Camplight, the alter-ego of American songwriter Brian Christinzio released albums in 2005 and 2007, both gems of a certain psych-pop vintage, combining eloquent songwriting with a self-destructive bent.

This sublime talent with the kenning vocal and fearless approach to lyrical introspection has thankfully returned with his new album ‘How to Die In The North’ (out on Bella Union), recorded in his newly adopted home of Manchester. The LP is a fantastically rich, stylistically diverse trip. From dramatic, layered pop to a haunted take on Sixties sunshine-pop, from blue-eyed soul to speedy surf-pop, from sparser piano balladry to psychedelic showstoppers and a grand finale that’s part Nilsson and part Broadway showtune.Far from dying, BC Camplight has been reborn in the North.

“[On ‘How to Die in the North’] Melodic and eccentric, this is a multi-layered beauty” – Q Magazine ****

“Not only a remarkable return, but also a songwriting master-class that will hopefully see BC Camplight embark upon a second act worthy of his talents.” – Record Collector ****

Support comes from:Grace Lightman

Grace Lightman started out fronting London psych-rockers The Hypnotic Eye before going solo. After a chance meeting with producer and collaborator Patrick James Pearson at a gig in early 2015, the pair immediately bonded over a mutual admiration for sixties sci-fi, Twin Peaks and sad songs, Grace began shaping her songs and sound in earnest.
